Simcocks is proud to announce outstanding results in the Chambers & Partners 2018 High Net Worth guide, with the firm and its CEO receiving a Band 1 ranking, and one of the firm’s advocates receiving a ‘Star’ Recommended Lawyer status.
The Firm has been ranked in the highest category under Offshore Trusts with a special mention to advocates Phil Games and Kevin O’Loughlin.
Law firms and individual lawyers are ranked in bands from 1-6, with Band 1 being the best. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.
Simcocks has a dedicated Trusts team for both non-contentious and contentious matters, acting for both corporates and private clients. The team work on the creation, administration and restructuring of trusts and foundations, advising a mixture of corporate trustees, high net worth families and individuals. They also liaise with the firm’s litigation department on contentious matters relating to trusts.
CEO Phil Games received a Band 1 ranking, and is well respected for his private client practice. Chambers sources site him as being a “figurehead” in the practice area. Clients also note his “good reputation,” describing him as “very sensible, straightforward, approachable and intelligent,” and stating: “He is all you want in a lawyer.”
Kevin O’Loughlin received a ‘star’ ranking, given to lawyers with exceptional recommendations in their field. He worked in-house at a large trust company on the island for a number of years before joining Simcocks, where he now advises professional trustees on trust administration. Chambers sources have noted his “technical approach,” saying: “He is very good on the technical side of things.”
