The team on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge17 July 2018

A brave team from Douglas based law firm, Simcocks Advocates, successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this weekend.

The challenge is to attempt an arduous 39.2km walk that takes in three of the highest peaks in Yorkshire –  Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough –  in under the benchmark time of 12 hours.  The ascents are stunning but tough (over 7061 feet) and the descents across steep, uneven ground are even tougher.

The Simcocks team comprised Director Irini Newby, Associates Taryn Pyle and Rebecca Patterson, Finance Manager Claire Belcher-Smith, Trainee Conveyancer Sara-Jayne Dodge and Librarian Nikki Spencer.  The intrepid ladies completed the challenge in just over 11 hours, which was one of the best finishing times of the day. They were amongst 38 individuals (out of 81 taking part) who completed the challenge and the only legal team to finish together within the benchmark time.

The event was organised by LawNet, a leading group of law firms in the UK and Ireland, of which Simcocks is the only Isle of Man member.  This is the tenth year LawNet has set its members a physical challenge, which in the past have included Snowdonia and Helvellyn in the Lake District.

Director, Irini Newby commented on the event:

“I’m extremely proud of the team for completing this challenge in such a great time.   It was a really tough challenge for us all, but we all pulled together to finish as a team.  An attitude that very much reflects Simcocks’ ideals.”
