Simcocks is proud to sponsor The Sovereign Art Foundation Student’s Prize 2017.
The international art competition is aimed at year 13 students and is being held on the Isle of Man for the very first time this year.
The short-listed works of art, created by local students, is on display at the Sayle Gallery from 13 October – 12 November, with the winning pictures announced on Friday 15 December.
High schools across the Isle of Man, along with the University College, entered their entire final year art works, which a panel of nine judges selected the final shortlist of 12 paintings and photographs to go forward for a public vote.
The Sovereign Art Foundation has been running since 2003 with the first competition held in Hong Kong. It was created by international corporate service provider the Sovereign Group and is now considered to be a highly prestigious arts award. It’s well defined twin focus was to recognise the growing wealth of contemporary art talent and bring proven benefits of art therapy to underprivileged children.
The proceeds of the Isle of Man based competition will be split between the Art Foundation, which helps international children’s charities, and Rebecca House on the Isle of Man.
Simcocks chose to sponsor the Gallery Catalogue for the event, covering the print costs.

We are proactive when it comes to helping local talent to flourish and it’s wonderful to see such a high level of talent on the Isle of Man. We wish all shortlisted students the very best with the competition which we’re sure will raise a considerable amount for Rebecca House and other international children’s charities.”
The public can view the final 12 pieces and cast a vote, either through the Facebook page, the Sovereign Group website or in person at the gallery.
