Phil Games with Janani Amber Ratnavel and her winning essay
7 August 2019
For the second year, Simcocks Advocates has sponsored an initiative aimed at encouraging students with an interest in a career in law. “Partnership with Schools” launched in 2018 and is a competition open to A-level students who are studying the subject or International Baccalaureate students who are interested in law.
Students were invited to write an essay on a choice of topics, and the winning essay was written by Janani Amber Ratnavel in Year 12 at Queen Elizabeth II High School. Amber will receive a placement at Simcocks to gain hands on experience working in a law firm.
CEO of Simcocks, Phil Games, presented Amber with a voucher to aid her with her studies. He commented:
“Once again we were extemely impressed with the high standard of entries in this competition and it was really difficult to choose a winner, with such a range of talent to consider. Amber’s essay discussing the use of artificial intelligence in the courtroom of the future was well researched, thoughtful and sophisticated. I look forward to welcoming her to the firm later in the year, and to running this competition again in 2020.”
