We are very sad to announce the passing of Solicitor, Adam Kelly, who died unexpectedly on 30th May 2019 at the age of 72.
Adam leaves a widow, Margaret, and two daughters, Ruth and Miriam.
Educated at Rydal School in Colwyn Bay, Adam then went up to Clare College, Cambridge. He joined Simcocks’ Corporate & Commercial team in 2005 on a part time basis, following a successful career as a partner in a Liverpool law firm.
His area of expertise was Commercial Agreements and Intellectual Property but his knowledge of the law was vast, and he could turn his hand to most areas. He had a sharp mind and a keen wit, and wrote many thought-provoking articles for Simcocks.
Adam was also a former Chairman of Isle of Man Copyright Tribunal.
In his spare time Adam was an accomplished sailor (he was Commodore of Castletown Yacht Club), a lay preacher and a consummate gentleman. He and Margaret had a rowing boat, which they took out as often as weather permitted. He also had his “hareem” of ladies learning to speak French, and was a keen walker – leading a weekly group of walkers on various interesting hikes. Furthermore, he had a love of music and sang with the Isle of Man Choral Society Choir.
Adam was a very intelligent, active and fun human being and will be sorely missed by all those with whom he came into contact.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held in Port St Mary on Friday 14th June.
