Copyright Tribunal Chairman

Adam Kelly, an associate at Douglas-based Simcocks Advocates, has been appointed chairman of the Isle of Man’s Copyright Tribunal.

The Tribunal resolves disputes between copyright owners and users of copyright materials. It deals with matters relating to rates for licences to perform or broadcast literary, dramatic or musical works. The Tribunal also deals with design rights, claims to copyright in designs and unregistered designs.

Adam, who lives in Castletown, is a solicitor in the commercial department of Simcocks Advocates with particular responsibility for intellectual property matters. He has considerable expertise in dealing with highly complex matters and providing novel solutions to suit the individual needs of a client. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with licence, commercial, service, supply and technology agreements. He is a former Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents.

Adam said: “The Tribunal covers a wide range of intellectual property matters and I am looking forward to the work ahead.”
