Isle of Man Advocates join LawNet
Simcocks Advocates has announced that it has become part of LawNet an organisation formed in 1989 currently consisting of some 54 firms of Lawyers throughout the UK and Ireland.
Phil Games Chief Executive at Simcocks said
"LawNet is an organisation which one is invited to join having met their stringent entry requirements so we are naturally very pleased to have become a member. Our membership of LawNet also provides us with automatic membership of Eurojuris and consequently access to over 700 firms throughout Europe. A large proportion of work from the UK and Europe has traditionally been directed towards the Channel Islands. We are the only "offshore" member of the Lawnet network and we intend to attract more business to the Isle of Man."
A key requirement of joining LawNet is that within two years of joining the member firm must meet the ISO 9002 LawNet quality standard. This is exclusive to members of LawNet and includes all aspects of Investors in People, meets the Law Society's practice management standards, creates a focus on client care in the legal profession, leads to international standard certification and generally helps in dealing with matters such as risk management.
Andrew Corlett who is the "Quality Director" at Simcocks responsible for overseeing the implementation of the practices and procedures to obtain the ISO accreditation said
"achieving this nationally recognised ISO certification will naturally demonstrate our quality of service and provide reassurance to clients. This is an issue that is also becoming more relevant when dealing with matters such as Professional Indemnity Insurance. Furthermore, the Directors at Simcocks believe that the achievement of the necessary ISO standard is vital in enabling us to continue to attract quality work to the Isle of Man since many clients, especially institutional and Government clients are tending to see this as a pre-requisite for instructing Lawyers."
Simcocks is also a founder member of Terralex, an international network of law firms with 145 member firms in 93 countries, with more than 10,000 lawyers and hundreds of offices around the world. Phil Games commented
"through Terralex we and our clients have access to lawyers throughout the world. We see our membership of Lawnet and Eurojuris as a natural extension of our commitment to market our firm and the Isle of Man for the provision of structures and legal services in international transactions."
