Whether dealing with a multi-national corporation or a private client, Simcocks’ Dispute Resolution Advocates adopt a commercially realistic approach to bring each case to an efficient and practical conclusion.
The department specialises in international corporate and commercial litigation and has an impressive track record of success in high stake disputes. Simcocks’ technical knowledge generates many complex referrals and our lawyers have considerable experience dealing with cross-jurisdiction disputes with particular emphasis on trust related and shareholder matters, emergency injunctive and discovery remedies and judicial review applications.
Simcocks also advises on human rights issues, financial services and compliance regulatory matters, individual and corporate insolvency, employment, family law, personal injury claims, licensing, planning and disputes relating to property.
As well as legal skills some of our lawyers have the advantage of direct experience working in the engineering, shipping, reinsurance and medical sectors. With our specialist knowledge and commercial awareness we have a reputation for finding creative and cost-effective solutions to achieve an early settlement to problems of any size.
Simcocks has a dedicated and experienced team of criminal lawyers who can act for defendants from the police station through to the representation of defendants at trial in both Summary and General Gaol Courts. We advise on a wide range of matters including motoring law, white collar fraud involving companies and/or individual directors, criminal defence and exclusion orders made against offenders. Our team acts for both privately funded and legally aided clients as well as a number of well known insurers, corporate entities and regularly act as duty Advocates in the Summary Court and at police stations.
The fused nature of the legal profession in the Isle of Man allows Advocates to act both as solicitors and barristers and at Simcocks all Advocates in the Dispute Resolution department have court experience. A back-up team of paralegals and lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions provide support.
